GC S4 Round 4 Dubai GP

[Grinsomat]

After the break of 4 weeks it was time to race again. Sadly only 2 drivers of RSms, Big G and Grinsomat could make it in time for the race. Team Captain Paul Metson was forced to not take part cause of private meetings.

During the Quallify both drivers were not able to manage a good performance. Quallifying as 17th G. Draper was able to pass his team mate M. Weidner who quallified as last, still suffering form his illness. Both had the olympic thought last nite, taking part is everything. If you do not expect too much you can not lose that much !

So it was time to race. Both had a decent start and were able to keep out of troubles in the T1 incident. The 1st couple of laps both were running the same pace and had some nice battles with Batfink, who once again showed himslef as hard clean racer on track. After about 10 laps M. Weidner was able to pull away from his teammate. Both drivers were on a none stop strategy. As the pit sequency started for all other drivers both RSms driver were in the top 10 Positions and had a good spot on a few more points than expected. The 1st sad moment then was were Grinsomat was forced to pit in due to the front tyres totally worn out in lap 32. Top 10 was history then. Big G still in the top 10 was running a good pace and held the flag high for RSms. After the new set of tyres Grinsomat was able to put in faster lap times and the fresh set of tyres did make it possible for him to close up on Batfink once again.
Lap 39....a black lap for Big G ! The engine went boom . Currently the engineers are still looking into this if it was a wrong treatment of the car or if there are serious mechanical failures in this version of the F360 ! With Grinsomat still running, he was able to get closer into Batfink`s range, he was not able to push the car anymore cause of the tyres. This must have been the reason for Batfink`s final lap spin, which made it possible for Grinsomat to sneak past and earning a hard 13th place !
Cause of his engine failure Big G ended the race in 16th position.

It could have been a better perfomance if the strategy/tyres of Grinsomat would have been more tested before and if Big G`s engine would have lasted the whole race.
Now looking forward to the next event to show up as complete team and hoping at last for a better team performance this season !
